Successful revolutions driven by civil resistance rarely emerge from spontaneously actions. They are typically the result of deliberate strategy, organizational discipline and the cultivation of a shared political purpose. Authoritarian systems do not erode solely because of their internal contradictions or moral illegitimacy; they weaken when confronted by sustained, organized, and strategically directed collective action.

This book is intended for movement leaders in Ethiopia seeking to dismantle authoritarian rule through civil resistance and facilitate the establishment of a democratic political order. It provides a systematic, step-by-step framework for building, leading, and sustaining an effective movement from its inception through regime transition and democratic consolidation.

Drawing on insights from political struggle, strategic planning, organizational behavior, and historical cases of nonviolent resistance, this work examines the central challenges that movements commonly face: repression, fragmentation, coordination failures, elite co-optation, and the uncertainties of transition. Its purpose is not merely to inspire opposition to tyranny, but to equip leaders with the analytical tools and strategic discipline necessary to convert public grievance into organized power and durable political change.

Organizing Team

Eventure is curated by a small team of designers, researchers, and ecologists who believe that technology must serve the planet — not the other way around. Working between Milan, Nairobi, and São Paulo, the team brings together local knowledge and global collaboration to shape a gathering rooted in care, creativity, and systems thinking.
We don’t just program talks — we curate experiences, relationships, and ideas that grow long after the event ends.
